A Night in the Dark Ages!

This was the culmination of what we've been doing for home school so far this year. We have been learning about the Dark Ages and are slowly moving into the Renaissance. Recently we have covered Monks, Vikings, Charlamagne, Richard the Lionheart, the Crusades, King Arthur and the round table and Genghis Khan to name a few. Jealous? In preparation for this event the children made shields and swords, baked knights in armour in the middle eastern sun, built castles, carved viking long ships, made ink out of boiled walnuts (you should've seen the maggots squirm)

Jaden loves making meatloaf

to create this porker.

Merlin the wizard creating
homemade ale (root beer)

Queen Lissa announcing the guests

The ladies in waiting displaying their trenchers.

Lady Clara exclaiming over the
delightful fish with it's head on

Jaden thoroughly enjoying
the blood pudding

St. Shumway riding to save
the damsel in distress...

from the hungry dragon
threatening to eat the Princess.

When peasants attack (I think the shield
could be used more effectively, just my opinion)

The Grand Finale! The poor knight did not
make it inside hte castle before the battle
began.

You are always welcome. We're shooting bows and arrows tomorrow while we're learning about Genghis Khan. Call me, I'd love to hang.
