Symbiotic relationship

I post this picture just to remind you how sweet my girls look before you read this hideous conversation that just transpired at our house. We have just gotten home from a cub scout pack meeting at the park. Jeremy had been talking to another father about how he got his son to stop sucking his thumb. (We thought Kyla had broke the habit but apparently not). He said he used to threaten his son that he would stick his sons thumb up his nose then he wouldn't want to suck it because it would be covered with boogers. Makes sense, right? So Jeremy comes home and tells Kyla this theory.
She says, "That's OK! I know Ella likes to eat boogers, so I'll just give them to her."
Ella exclaims, "I LOVE THEM!!!!"
So about 10 min later Jeremy proceeds to stick Kyla's thumb up his nose which in turns leaves her in complete hysterics for about 45 min. She could not be consoled...but she wasn't sucking her thumb when I went in to kiss her! I don't know if this is a method will use on a regular basis, but it did the trick for one night.

Fishing at the Shasta Hatchery!

Ella proud of her catch ,but not wanting to go anywhere near it.

Jaden's 8 1/2 lbs trout. We weren't planning on taking any fish home
but Jaden couldn't bear to part with his catch.

Jaden wearing a hat to hide his new haircut,
which looks incredibly handsome by the way.

Family posing with their take home catches for the day.

The rest of our fish we gave to Uncle Jeff to take home

We had a great time fishing at the Shasta Hatchery this weekend. Once a month during the summer they open the hatchery ponds for kids to fish in. It is always packed but we have a great time. This year it took longer to land a fish, but they were about three times the size as last year. Thanks Jeff for organizing the trip. It was fun to do that with most of the cousins (We missed you Jennifer and Fam!) The next fishing Day is August 16th if anyone is interested.

Jeremy's new toy

Tomorrow we are going to pick up Jeremy's new toy from the dealership. He is not allowed to bring it home until he cleans out the garage so he has a place to put it, needless to say he is very excited about cleaning out the garage today. Our Bishop is going to go with us to drive it home, since Jeremy doesn't have an endorsement on his licence yet. We will both be taking the motorcycle safety class, so I can drive it too! Please pray nobody breaks anything.

My Hero!

This little man saved me today. I was in my room folding clothes when all the sudden I hear utter chaos erupting from the living room. I start walking around the corner when I hear Jaden yell, "Mom, Mya's chewing on a big dead rat." Oh my goodness! I don't do rats. I immediately froze where I was. The boys shewed Mya away from her prize. Ella is screaming because she doesn't want to walk by it, Kyla has run into her room and slammed the door, and I am frozen in place in fear. I asked Jaden if he could clean it up, thinking he'd say no way, that's gross. But he just said , "sure mom!" and him and his friends disposed of the rat properly. I don't know what I would have done without them. I propably would still be shaking in the hallway. What a man!

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone was able to have an amazing 4th of July. We had an extremely busy, but fun day. We started off at the Flag raising pancake breakfast that our ward does every year. Thanks activities committee for a great breakfast. What a way to start the day. The kids had a great time running around playing with their friends, and each other. Afterwards we went to Emmigrant lake water slides with our friends the Skabelands for Ethan's birthday. We all had a blast. Ella loved going "superfast" down the slides and challenged everyone to a race. Jaden and Kyla had a great time too. Kyla loved being independent enough to go down the slides by herself with a life jacket on. They grow up so fast. The only time I would see her was if we happened to be standing in line together.

After we went home and took naps so we could party all night long we went back to the Skabelands for a BBQ and fireworks (and more water sliding).
Happy Birthday Ethan. We love you and were so glad that we could spend your birthday with you. I can't believe you are seven already. Have fun playing with all your goodies.
Carrie and I had a great time trying to photograph the fireworks. Some were successful, some not so much.

Boy do boys love to blow things up. We had a 4 hour continuous fireworks display last night in the Skabelands driveway. It was amazing. Once Ella got over the loud noise we all had a great time owing and awing!

It's funny what things you capture on the firework setting. This one looks like flames are shooting out of Jeremy's stomach. I promise no husbands were harmed in the taking of this picture.
